At Lightning Labels, we’re more than just a company that cranks out custom labels—we’re a team of real, hardworking people who put our expertise and passion into every project. Behind the scenes, our skilled crew is dedicated to making sure every detail is handled with care, so you get labels that truly stand out.
When you choose Lightning Labels, you’re not just getting a product—you’re getting the commitment of a close-knit team that treats your project like their own.
Today, we’d like to introduce you to some of the folks who make the magic happen and show you why trusting our team with your labeling needs is the best decision you can make.
Shanna: The Art Prepper (Prepress Lead)
How long have you been working at Lightning Labels?
Shanna: About 6.5 years.
What do you do?
Shanna: I take customer furnished art files and I prep it so we can print it on our digital presses. Prepress - we’re sort of like an editor for art files. We make sure the art files are ready so we can get them printed. There are certain things we have to do to prep those files to make them printable. Our whole department - we process maybe 150 jobs a day. Sometimes a job will take three minutes, sometimes it can take an hour, it just depends on the job.
I’m here every day so I’m the go-to person when production or someone on the sales team has an issue since I’m pretty reliable and always here. I’ll check into orders for them to see where they are in the facility. I do proofing and color-match services. If another company printed some labels and they need to be consistent with the ones we print here, then they’ll send us samples so we ensure they’re the same color.
What do you like about working at Lightning Labels?
We get a lot of interesting labels here: beer, a lot of vape products, a lot of personal care products. I like all the beer labels, those are pretty interesting. Those are the ones that really stand out because those are on Chrome usually, so they have a metallic element to them and they’re more visually appealing off the shelf.
What would you like customers to know?
The most important thing when you are creating a label is to think about, this is going to sound really silly but, cookies. When cookies are cut out, you need extra cookie dough, right? So when you’re setting up your art files, you actually need extra artwork to extend past where the “cookies” are cut.
A common question we are asked all the time is, if we can “just fix it really quickly,” and the answer is, “Sometimes” but most of the time, everything takes time. So, to get those cookies made... ya know? It takes a little time.
Kim: The Final Check (Shipping Clerk)
How long have you been working at Lightning Labels?
Kim: Almost 2 years.
What do you do?
I’m the final stage in quality control—checking and rechecking orders. Then we pack and ship.
What do you like about working at Lightning Labels?
We’re one big family! We all know each other—there’s like 20 of us, maybe 10 in the office? It’s a very relaxed environment.
What would you like customers to know?
We have a lot of customers that come in to pick up their labels, and they’ll often ask for our opinion. I have them look at my wall! We’ve got lots of inspiring examples.
Eduardo: The Cutting Pro (Slide Machine Operator)
How long have you been working at Lightning Labels?
Eduardo: 11 years.
What do you do?
I cut rolls into separate rolls and quantities. I keep an eye on quality.
What do you like about working at Lightning Labels?
Nothing bothers me. I know what I’m doing. I stay pretty busy, but there’s not too much pressure. It’s a nice place to work. I can talk with everybody. We’re all friends.
What would you like customers to know?
I always run extra labels. Not too much—just enough. That’s how I can always send the right finished quantity.
Seth: The Label Maker (Die Cut Operator)
How long have you been working at Lightning Labels?
Seth: Almost 2 years.
What do you do?
I’m the one who makes it a label and not just a roll of material.
What do you like about working at Lightning Labels?
I like the independence of the work and how varied it is. We have thousands of different dies. Everything feels unique instead of always being the same thing over and over again.
What would you like customers to know?
Don’t be afraid to get funky with it. It’s important to catch the eye. We’ve got a label size for everything.
Wrapping It Up with the Lightning Labels Team
At Lightning Labels, we like to think that our secret sauce is the people behind the labels. Sure, the machines are great, and the technology is top-notch, but it’s our team’s dedication, sense of humor, and hard work that really makes the difference.
So, the next time you’re peeling off one of our custom labels, remember the friendly faces who made it happen. After all, it’s not just about creating labels—it’s about creating something memorable with a team that truly cares.
